When asked for comment VW executives provided the following :

Not NEARLY as harmful as anything GM has done over the past 40 years.
But yeah, apparently Tom Brady drives a TDI

“Volkswagen was sued on Friday in a federal court in San Francisco in a consumer class-action case alleging that the defeat device has caused vehicles to lose value.”
That didn’t take long.

meh. ours uses really little fuell and is great for cruising. was tempted to tune it and to hell with emissions anyways, so w/e

All the more reason to justify buying a GTI instead of a diesel.

Annnd any sort of advancement diesel made into becoming mainstream in the US just went about 20 steps back.

I remember when I wrote an article about Diesel and how much they suck, pollute and so on and that “clean Diesel” was bullshit.
This is a known fact for many many years in France and Europe in general that there are NO clean diesel. Yet I got a backlash, with people telling me how stupid I was because nowadays Diesels were “clean” and oh so awesome lol...
Well, guess what happened? :)

None of this bothers me - I’m just as much in the market for a Golf wagon TDI as i was a week ago.
So they pollute more than they’re supposed, IDGAF. I just want to make sure i get the next gen infotainment system

I don’t really know that much about diesels, is it any better with bio-diesels?

From what i know Biodiesel doesn’t not change anything when it comes to NOx emissions.

i think the “clean” part of biodiesel is that it’s recycled/grown rather than extracted/refined. i dont know the details of co2/nox/particulate emissions.

although it may increase their value. not many individually care all too much about emissions.

This was Audi’s tag line for awhile back in like 2010. It's pretty damn funny now

The advantage of biodiesel is that it’s carbon neutral. It does still emit the same amount of carbon (CO2 mostly), but that’s carbon sourced from a renewable source (crops) and not from a depletable source (oil). These crops fixated a similar amount of CO2 for their growth, hence biodiesel being carbon neutral.
All other emisions are still there as far as I’m aware.

Well, VW has stopped selling any new or used TDIs until this issue is resolved, so you might have difficulty finding one.
